As Speilberg and Lucas seem to be taking their sweet time in making another Indiana Jones film, my son and I thought we would help them out.
My son was seven when we made this, and we spent a sunny afternoon, first in the kitchen making the dinosaur out of plasticine, and then in the garden, filming. It took us most of a day to make this 27 seconds long film, and about ten seconds of that is taken up by the credits. You’ll notice that my other boy, Jack, is credited too, but to be honest he spent most of his time playing on the trampoline. He was only five, though.
Pleasant memories from last summer. It’s days like that when I go to bed thinking, yeah, life is good.
It’s not exactly Citizen Kane (or even Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull) but I hope you enjoy it.
That is awesome you dudes! I really wanted it to be longer. The music choice was very significant for me – about 15 years ago I went skydiving and I had a video made of the jump, and that was the music they used on the video to accompany me falling through the air. Watching your clip there brought back the thrilling terror of my skydiving experience – which obviously enhanced my viewing pleasure of your film, and the lego man’s peril. You need to make a sequel.
Thanks, Vanessa. I’m jealous now, I’ve wanted to do a skydive for a long time, but never got round to it (that’s code for: never been brave enough). I love ELO, and I love that song, so it was a natural for our video. It’s strange calling it a video, as we made it using still photographs.
As for a sequel, well, we did start one, we just need to get round to finishing it. Matthew has very grand ideas now, wanting to make a 2 hour epic! I have tried pointing out to him how long it took us to make a 27 second film, but youngsters laugh in the face of such pathetic logic.
